The President's Message, 2010

I want to start by saying how excited I am to be your new 2010 President. I would also like to extend my gratitude, to Shelley Walzak, for introducing me to the IREM leadership role. I know that 2010 will be a year of progress, expansion, and productivity. In 2009, we had 138 local members. IREM National has challenged each region to the RVP Chapter Challenge. The region with the highest percentage of membership increase will win one free registration to the 2011 Leadership Conference. Our goal of increasing membership by 14% may be high, but I believe we can achieve our goals through outreach to Students, Apartment Managers, Commercial Practitioners, and Real Estate associations. As a CPM, and your current Chapter President, I see the value of IREM. It is our goal to communicate the benefits of IREM’s education, leadership opportunity, monthly lunch programs, community service, and political backing and support that IREM has to offer. We want to reach out to companies that are not members of IREM to educate them about the importance of what IREM can provide to their employees through the opportunities within our organization. IREM National President, Randall Woodbury, will be our featured guest speaker at our March meeting. We will be hosting an ODIE (Owner, Developers, Investors, Employers) meet and greet later that day and we will be inviting industry leaders to meet Mr. Woodbury and encourage companies to join IREM. In 2010, our Board will continue to serve our chapter by meeting the many goals each committee has identified. This year, we have added two new members to our board. They are, Robyn Click and Holly Lo, both of which received their CPM designations in 2009. I hope to continue to keep membership strong and focused through empowering those in our organization to use their skills in meeting our goals, we want to encourage our membership to be active and participate in the many fun events we plan to hold. We want our members and friends to attend our lunch programs and the many opportunities to volunteer and make a difference in our community.
