2008 Presidential Goals

Increase Membership:
  1. Support IREM National's goal to increase local membership by 4%.
  2. Promote the Associate designations by soliciting outside partners that would be assets to the chapter.
  3. Promote the ACM (Accredited Commercial Manager) designation to include property management professionals with smaller portfolios.
  4. Continue to promote college outreach by aligning with The Ohio State University and Columbus State Community College's real estate programs. Add faculty members, showcase IREM at campus job fairs and encourage IREM members to teach real estate courses.
  5. Complete at least 10 ODIE visits to Owners, Developers, Investors, Employers and Students.
Advance Education:
  1. Continue to assist candidates by offering courses required to achieve their IREM designations.
  2. Offer continuing education hours that provide quality related information to the Property and Asset Management fields to assist members in their daily responsibilities.
  3. Promote the expertise and utilization of or "Friends" and "Associates" through a minimum of 3 seminars sponsored and taught by them on the latest and best practices in their field.
  4. Coordinate with other Real Estate Professional Organizations to promote IREM education courses as well as courses those organizations offer.
Encourage Member Participation and Networking:
  1. Promote member/candidate participation on committees.
  2. Utilize the expertise of past presidents and officers through their continued participation in newsletters and seminars.
  3. Plan at least one candidate function, one "Friends" reception and a networking event sometime during 2008.
  4. Continue development of an IREM Young Professionals group to attract and retain younger members.
  5. Redevelop board member positions to develop greater board bench strength and succession planning.
  6. Plan, organize and conduct a Board Retreat for the purpose of evaluating the Chapter progress for the current year, review Star Notebook, Strategic Plan and Education classes for upcoming years.
  7. Evaluate and establish guidelines for the Mentoring Committee in order to provide assistance to the current candidate roster.
Support IREM National:
  1. Participate in National Conferences including Education Conference, Leadership and Legislative Summit and Regional Conference. Encourage member attendance as well.
  2. Highlight the value of IREM National's website, including IREM First, Get Real, Get Ready, Tech Helpline and IREMjobs.org.
  3. Support and encourage Chapter member participation in national legislative action impacting the property management field.
